Great uploads as always. Thank you for the information and knowledge you have provided us!
this is terrific! i've been trying to get going on my portfolio and this is exactly the kind of help i've been looking for! thanks for helping out all us beginners.
I think I am going to quit arch school already and not waste any more time ... now that I have seen the competition that is. Thumbs up!
Great portfolio and great tutorials. Thanks for sharing!
I saw in your tutorials that you use Photoshop for creating this amazing portfolios, never thought about using Indesign for this?
Wouter,
I would like to do a post on Indesign sometime soon. It is a really nice program for organizing the pages.
Yes, it is!
I'm following architecture at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium and I already experimented with Indesign to organize all pages in 1 pdf but it would be nice to see a tutorial about a really nice page design of yours :)
YOU SAVED MY LIFE!!!!!!!! I LOVE UR TUTORIALS!!! PLEASE CONTINUE TO MAKE MORE!!!
your work is 'just' amazing....i really hope that you get the recognition you deserve...thank you for sharing...
Hey thanks for the great tutorials, you do great work. I do have one question on assembling my portfolio. This portfolio will be printed and bound. How can I setup photoshop so that I have front and back printings? The crazy idea I had was to just print and glue pages together.. Seems a bit sketchy and easy to produce a sloppy final - not what I'm going for.
-I have my pages set up as you do in your tutorial, being a landscaped 8.5" x 11" with left and right pages. Assembling these would cause gaps of white pages between each printout when bound.
Thanks!
Brandon
I let the print shop to figure that one out for me haha. If your doing it yourself, I would suggest splitting the pages and just print the front and back of each individual page of the portfolio instead of trying to print both the left and the right of two different pages on one 8.5x11". I agree, I would avoid gluing the pages together.
Awesome website, I am a young architect very enthusiastic about architectural representation and parametric design. Do you have any tutorial on digital fabrication?. Congrats for the website!
This was such a helpful post Alex, thanks so much for this website as well! I'm a 2nd year Undergrad at Manchester School of Architecture in the UK - it's so inspiring to have such early graduates of Architecture be so willing to already begin to pass on information and techniques to others - keep up the great work! Thank you.
@ Andres,
I don't have anything on digital fabrication. I try to limit the scope of this site to architectural representation.
@ Dan,
Thanks for the kind words, its much appreciated.
Alex, your work is simply inspirational. I am a last year of undergraduate of architecture in mexico and i've followed all your tips and tutorials to make my portfolio with my own style. I've spread your webpage trough all friends and we all appreciate how you make important things so simple. Keep sharing :D
fantastic videotutorial ¡¡¡¡ Thanks a lot to you¡¡¡¡ very inspiring :D
Hey thanks for the great tutorials
Hey, I'm in need of some help making drawings for my blog - anyone who's got the time to help out?
I'm trying to suggest a new concept of building cities, but with roads underground instead of between the building - and I need illustrations in order to catch people's imaginations. You can read about it here: "http://wildrocketsledgeride.com/ultra-compact-city-concept/the-design-of-an-ultra-compact-city/"
Anyone who will help me? All I need is the rendered image and a permission to use it for my blog, and I'll link through to any more work on your site.
You'll find my email address on the http://wildrocketsledgeride.com/about/ page :)
These are super helpful tutorials but where do you get the final portfolio printed? Do you recommend one printshop over others?
@ Matt,
I have always printed my portfolios locally such as at the university print shops. I have never printed through any online print sites, so I cannot really offer any suggestions based on experience. Although, I have heard that Lulu does a good job.
Alex, stunning work. Really impressive. What program do you use to capture your tutorials and add the glowing blue circle around the cursor?
@Brian,
Camstudio. Its a free download
Hi. I just discovered your blog now. I'm working as a freelance architect and interested with architecture graphics and presentation. I found your blogsite very nice and informative. I bookmarked it now and looking forward for your more post soon. Thank you for sharing your talent to the rest of the world, and i'm now rooting on you :)
It's perfect! But how could I do digitial portfolio to look like a real book? Which program did you use to change pages in this way? I was trying to combine my .pdf pages in Adobe Reader, but it's not the same and I couldn't save in way which I wanted.
